“You gotta start something, in my case it was with a little bird with the dream of flying”

Kiwis (2D Mobile Game)

Solo Developer | Design · Programming · Art · Audio
Kiwi is a lighthearted, fast-paced 2D mobile game designed for touch interaction and quick play sessions. I handled the entire development cycle, from concept to launch, including game design, programming, visuals, animation, UI, audio, and polish. The project was built to explore feel-good feedback loops, casual pacing, and mobile optimization.

Business Model

My passion has always been creating games, and that will never change. However, as a game developer, it's also important to think about how to make your work sustainable. I’ve always disliked intrusive ads—banner ads and full-screen interstitials ruin the experience, especially on mobile. That’s why my priority is clear: game first, profit second. I believe that if you truly love what you do, success will follow naturally.

With that in mind, I implemented ads in a way that respects the player. Ads are entirely optional and tied to meaningful gameplay choices. The objective is to score as many points as possible by dodging enemy cats and advancing further. If a player loses to a cat, their score won’t be saved to the leaderboard, unless they opened their parachute. Additionally, if they’re defeated, they can choose to continue from their current score by watching an ad. This approach rewards engagement without compromising the player’s experience.

Core Gameplay

The player controls a kiwi bird navigating simple but escalating challenges, collecting items and avoiding hazards. The mechanics are tight and reactive, with minimal UI — the experience is designed to be intuitive and playable in short bursts

  • Game Design: Designed every gameplay mechanic, player ability, level pacing, and reward structure.

  • Programming: Implemented the full codebase — input handling, physics, game state logic, UI flow, and audio integration.

  • Art & Animation: Created all visual assets, including characters, environment art, and frame-by-frame sprite animations.

  • UI/UX: Designed and implemented the full user interface, optimized for mobile and built with visual clarity in mind.

  • Sound & Music: Composed background music and created SFX for all player interactions, movement, and environmental feedback.

  • Polish & Responsiveness: Focused on feel — added screen shakes, jump feedback, animation timing, and transitions to make it satisfying on touchscreens.

  • Publishing Prep: Optimized the project for mobile hardware, handled resolution scaling, and ensured the build passed platform checks.

Future of the Game

Pixel Kiwi is currently a pretty small game but i'm passionate about it, i work in everything on that game and i'm really proud of it, i want to add more themes to the game, currently it has 3 themes(Christmas, Halloween and Normal), i'm currently working on a japanese theme and want to add a lot more in the future.
